This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Literacy is an essential part of student development. When students have confidence in their reading and writing skills, they feel more determined to accomplish their goals. My students struggle with writing, reading fluency, and reading comprehension. Only a small percentage of students have acceptable Lexile scores since a majority are reading significantly below their appropriate grade level. Students consistently score as beginning learners on assessments and could benefit from increased literacy skills and opportunities at learning. My goal is to help students transition from beginning learners to developing or proficient learners. In order to do so, students need to be motivated and rewarded for their achievements and success.
I am seeking reward items to promote student achievement.
I want to ensure that they feel supported by providing them with adequate resources. The students that I teach primarily come from low income communities and have many environmental and academic challenges to overcome. My students are determined and capable of achieveing any goal they want to accomplish. I love being able to support them while helping to reach their academic goals.
My Project
The materials selected for the project will be beneficial for students in order to promote success. The materials will be placed in the classroom store and students will be allowed to use their classroom points to purchase desired items. Students will also recieve the items when recognized for successful completion of academic content or positive behaviors.
Reward items are essential to motivate students.
It is essential that students feel motivated to reach and exceed their goals. Students will be able to set their own goals and see the benefits of success. Having a motivating factor helps when trying to mold successful students.
