Revving It Up in the Maker Space!

Help me give my students items to build their own RC cars including motors, wheels, circuit boards, and additional building supplies.

My Project

I have recently introduced a weekly Maker Space to my students. For two hours every Friday, we head into the art room at my school to take over as makers. Here, students collaborate and learn with each other as well as parent volunteers to create, explore, and MAKE!

Many of my students are interested in creating their own RC cars and have researched the items needed for their projects.

Turns out, there are so many unusual parts needed to build an RC car from scratch! DC motors, resistors, lithium ion batteries, and toggle switches are just a few of the materials listed in this project. Lollypop sticks, according to my students, are the perfect diameter to feed axels through, and provide further stability to the car.

Students have also requested glue guns, super glue, and electrical tape for combining these parts to make their RC cars.

Students are excited to begin this building adventure and to race them across the blacktop at school upon completion!
