My Students

Technological advances, and the world's usage of those advances, are far out-pacing our school's ability to provide our students with the exposure and practice they need to master that technology.

My students are brilliant, sweet children who are learning and improving themselves at leaps and bounds despite economic disadvantages, language barriers and/or learning disabilities.

They are curious and creative, and their education would benefit greatly from having Chromebooks.

My Project

Chromebooks will provide my students with a myriad of learning opportunities at minimal cost. This version of the Chromebook is only $163/each whereas one iPad Mini 3 is over $600/each. This technology maximizes learning while minimizing cost. Chromebooks give my students access to innumerable books. Through the public library, students can download-almost instantaneously-numerous books they are interested in without any cost to the school. Furthermore, they will have access to the hundreds of books I have bought as Kindle editions. Secondly, my students who struggle with language acquisition and learning disabilities will have the opportunity to listen to audio books while reading along at the same time. Finally, Chromebooks with provide my children the opportunity to learn how to use email and attachments; to create and edit Google documents; to create tables, graphs and charts; and to perfect their research skills.

This technology will increase my students' reading comprehension, and their interest in literature will improve exponentially.

In addition, these Chromebooks will help my ELL students associate phonetics with sight words, improving their mastery of English. For students who are auditory learners, listening to the stories while reading them will help with comprehension and fluency. Lastly, my students will learn invaluable research/writing skills that will serve them their entire lives.
