My Project

Learning about American History and the American Revolution is an important milestone in my 5th grade students' academic journey. This project provides different leveled historical fiction novels that bring the story of the American Revolution to life, through dynamic, engaging characters, rich vocabulary and language, and portrayals of various revolutionary events and battles. There are different levels of books to meet the needs of all my students' reading levels.

My students will read these books in small groups called "Book Clubs", where they engage in oral reading fluency practice, group discussions, and collaborate on a shared poster to create a "Graffiti Board", which allows them creative expression to share different highlights of the book, including details relating to characters, setting, theme, relevant quotes, vocabulary, through pictures and words.
