This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I absolutely love my students’ curiosity, creativity, and eagerness to learn. They are passionate about exploring new ideas, but for years, they haven’t had a dedicated library space to spark their love for reading. By reopening our library, I want to create a welcoming and engaging environment where students feel excited to discover books, expand their knowledge, and develop a lifelong love of reading.
The specific resources I am requesting—new updated materials, and decorations—will transform the library into a space where students want to be.
We have just been gifted brand new library books. However, they are missing there check out cards and labels. Having this will allow a way to monitor what books are in and out. Purchasing thoughtfully designed book displays will highlight engaging reads each month, inspiring students to explore our new books that they might not have picked up otherwise. Comfortable and inviting décor will make the library a place where they can relax, focus, and immerse themselves in learning. Placing neon sign and pretty vines to spruce up our walls to an inviting book nook area would be delightful.
My goal for this project is to create a vibrant, student-centered library that fosters a love of reading, encourages independent learning, and supports academic growth. I want every student to see themselves represented in the books, displays, and décor of the space and feel inspired to explore new ideas.
What makes my students special is their resilience, curiosity, and enthusiasm. Despite not having access to a functional library for years, they continue to seek knowledge in every way they can. They deserve a space that nurtures their learning and provides opportunities to grow. This project will give them the library they need and deserve—one that ignites their imaginations and empowers them as readers and thinkers.
