My Students
Engaged, eager, excited, intelligent students enter my classroom seeking an experience atypical to those they've had before. They are eager, young world-changers hoping for realistic collegiate preparatory experience, but they are disappointed to find themselves using textbooks that are older they are! These bright young students are hopeful that they can have access to new resources from living authors, allowing an enriching experience much like that of the college classrooms they will soon occupy. Help me provide a classroom that affords them this opportunity!
My Project
These materials are vital to reviving my AP Literature program! By funding this project, students will have a brand new resource in their hands that will not only engage them in reading but will also create an opportunity to discuss major social issues facing our culture within our own state. Students will greatly benefit from reading about complex issues facing Americans, and it will open the door for discussions about race, persecution, social class, and cultural bias. In a time where unrest and the quest for equality are at the forefront of our society, this timely resource will change the perspectives a predominately white classroom to create awareness.
