My Project
We have four fully self-contained special education classes on our high school campus. These students have physical, emotional, intellectual, and behavioral issues. By giving them a safe space where they can go, to relax and/or refuel, they will be better able to rejoin their peers and accomplish their classroom tasks.
The students have a garden that they all enjoy tending to, so we thought we would extend the theme of nature into this room.
This special room would include calm lighting, essential oils, beautiful scenes from nature, and a soft carpet to relax their body, mind, and spirit. We would also have some calming, fun activities like sand and water tables, games like corn hole and velcro darts, and visually stimulating " light toys".
