My students need an Agility Quick Ladder to enhance physical activity in the classroom. My scholars need a variety of activities to improve their health and rigor in the classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our scholars are extremely smart, creative and adventurous. They enjoy all aspects of physical activity and love seeking gains. When we have activities inside or outside the classroom they love to explore and create their own games and activities. I actually learn a lot from them as I watch them teach and reteach each other. Last year our area was affected by Harvey and we had to modify our lessons to keep scholars engaged.
During Hurricane Harvey a large portion of our teaching materials were destroyed and we were having to improvise classroom activities.
This became very difficult because it was hard to plan and make the activities challenging without repeating the same activities every other week. I find that our scholars are in need of challenges physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally.
The manipulatives will help shape our program and keep our scholars competitive, innovative and engaged during the lesson. Our scholars look forward to physical activity in class and we like to have the items available to introduce or scholars to new areas of physical education.
My Project
Having the agility ladders will give our scholars an ability to work on spacing, working on their balance, and preparing those for the next level of playing sports. The ladders also incorporate a mental concept the scholars can use work on counting, aiming, planting and change of direction. These items will instill a sense of endurance and perseverance for our scholars. Being that the ladders are multipurpose I can use them inside and outside the classroom to improve speed, agility, and muscle memory.
The ladders are needed items because I need items simple and easy to transport for all my classes.
I enjoy using the field because we have so much space to utilize I can place them ladder in strategic places around the field where the scholars can do different activities using the ladders. My scholars can use it to work on skip counting and skipping with the ladder. My scholars can work on balance and aiming. I want to develop the whole concept of our scholars and create life-long learners and healthy scholars.
