My Students
I work at a low-income school with students from incredibly diverse backgrounds. Many of them work after school jobs to help support their family. A lot of them are working hard to learn English, having recently moved from countries that speak Spanish, Arabic, Russian, and many more.
Despite the challenges that they face, I am impressed every day by their work ethic and the sense of community they bring.
They are always willing to help each other out and striving to make sure that everyone can succeed. I try my best every day to make my content accessible to all of my students.
My Project
Science classes are awesome! Every student's favorite part of science class is lab days. As a teacher, I love planning and having my students do labs, but unfortunately labs mean supplies that we don't always have the money to buy.
I teach at an older school, and many of our lab supplies are 30 years old.
We desperately need to upgrade and restock a lot of our supplies, but there is no money budgeted to do so, especially for higher price items like hot plates and balances.
We need new, working, lab materials so our students can participate in labs and be safe while doing so. I want all of my students to leave my class loving science, and doing labs is a huge part of that!
