Microscopes for Labs
Funded Sep 25, 2025Thank you for helping me provide my students with hands on science labs using microscopes. We are an online school and only in our 5th year, so we are still trying to build up our lab supplies to offer in person activities for our students, and these microscopes will increase the types of labs we can do!
I appreciate your support.”

Funded Oct 11, 2023Thank you so much for supporting my project to get a Geiger Counter for my science lab! I believe strongly in providing many hands on lab opportunities for my science students. Nuclear chemistry and radiation has always been a topic that is more abstract and difficult to provide those types of activities for.
The Geiger Counter will allow me to design activities for my students to measure radiation and test things like shielding to see what types of materials different radioactive particles can travel through, which I know they will find fascinating!
Thank you again for your support!”

Lab Tools for Online Learning
Funded Feb 2, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation! This will help me tremendously as I work to give my online students the best science education I can! I am especially excited about the Carolina online labs! Those will be a game changer! High quality virtual labs are hard to find so these will really help my students have a great science education!”

Technology for Virtual Learning
Funded Aug 12, 2021Thank you so much for funding my project! We opened a brand new, all online school this year and technology like this iPad have helped me transition to online teaching. I have been able to use the iPad as a second screen and also during Zooms, I can share my iPad screen and use the Apple Pencil to draw on it to show my students how to write chemical equations, draw diagrams, balance equations and more! It has allowed me to do things virtually that I used to do on a whiteboard, which has made it easier for my students to learn science in an online setting!
Thank you again for your support!”

Funded Feb 9, 2021Thank you again for supporting my classroom by providing us with some new hot plates to add to our lab. Working at a low income, older high school means that getting more expensive items like this is very difficult. Our hot plates have slowly been wearing out and needing replaced for a long time, but we have been unable to get a budget to replace them. Adding these two new ones will help us be able to continue to offer labs and to have smaller groups when we are doing labs.
I believe that labs are an important part of any science classroom and my students love lab days! We were able to use these new hot plates as part of a Types of Reactions Lab where the students performed five different types of reactions that we had been learning about. Being able to see the reactions happen and compare the reactants to the products really helped them to understand what was going on. Thank you for helping make this happen!”

Funded Oct 4, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donation to my science classroom! I firmly believe that science classes need lots of hands on lab experiences so that students can actually DO science in a science class - not just learn facts about other people doing science.
Unfortunately, doing labs requires supplies and there isn't always money to purchase those supplies. Generous donors like you make it possible for me to give my students a high quality science experience.
Seemingly simple things like electronic scales, hot plates, and empty bottles are necessities in most lab procedures and having new ones will help us continue to do labs for years to come.
Thank you again! You are making a difference in the lives of some awesome, hard working, well deserving high school students!”

Funded Aug 13, 2019Thank you so much for donating to my project and helping me give my students the simple supplies they need to start the year off on the right foot! I already have seen the difference having these supplies has made for many of my students, particularly the binders and folders. In the past, I have always asked my students to get a binder or folder to keep themselves organized as there are many papers we use that they need to keep for weeks or even the whole year.
This year, thanks to you, I have been able to give binders to my students who aren't able to afford one. Anytime I notice a student without one, I just go grab a binder and hand it to them. They always go from frustrated trying to find papers in their disorganized backpack to happy and so grateful for this simple gift. My students also are loving the huge selection of nice, new markers and are always excited when we do something that they get to use them for.
I am so appreciative of your generosity! You are making a difference in the lives of some awesome, hard working students!”

Funded May 6, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations to my project! I am super excited to have a class set of headphones so I can more effectively incorporate technology into my classroom.
This year, I tried to include more technology in my teaching. There are so many great things you can do in a classroom to increase engagement level and learning using technology, but as I incorporated it more, I realized that it quickly became chaotic if the activity involved sound, which made it harder for a lot of my students to concentrate.
Having a class set of headphones will make these kind of activities more effective and allow me to use them more next year. Thank you for making this a possibility!”

Funded Feb 28, 2019I was so excited when I got the news that this project had been funded. I hadn't told my students that I was trying to get them new goggles. I knew they didn't like our old ones, they were scratched and discolored and really difficult to see through. They made doing labs very difficult, which made me sad because labs are so essential in science!
I received the goggles in the morning before school and had time to open them and put them in our goggle cabinet before the students came in. I left the cabinet open and as kids came in, they stopped and stared and exclaimed in surprise that we had brand new goggles! They were so excited!
We did a lab that day where the students were figuring out the saturation point of NaCl in water. They were so excited to wear the goggles and many commented on how much better they were than our old ones. I am looking forward to doing many more labs in the future and keeping my precious student's eyes safe with these brand new, nice goggles! The cleaning kit will help us keep them nice for a long time.
Thank you thank you thank you! You made a difference in my student's lives!”

Funded Oct 17, 2018Thank you so much for helping us get some much needed basic lab supplies! Things like meter sticks, timers, thermometers, hot plates and scales aren't necessarily fun and flashy, but they make a huge difference in what we can do in a science classroom and can be cost prohibitive as lab supplies add up very quickly and we often have very limited budgets.
I chose these supplies to request because they are things we will be able to use in multiple labs for many years to come! I like to do a measuring lab at the beginning of the year to introduce my students to the metric system and in the past, I haven't been able to have them use meter sticks or measure temperature because I didn't have thermometers. Now I can! Lots of experiments in chemistry require specific time and in the past, the students have had to use their phones as timers, which isn't ideal. Now I have nice timers for them to use!
I am so excited about all the possibilities these simple supplies have opened up for us! They will be used and treasured for a long time!
Thanks again for making a difference in my awesome students chemistry experience!”
