Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project is geared towards revitalizing my classroom with some new, structured and organized energy. My coteacher is switching rooms and taking her book bins and trays to her new classroom. I am requesting the black and white bins to continue the calm, homey feel we try to create in our room. They will be used for our classroom library, supplies, and organizational supports. My wonderful students have a variety of needs, and some specific areas of support we work on are executive functioning, sensory regulation strategies, and advocacy. I clearly label bins so that my students can develop their independence by going to get things from, or put things back in, their proper place. Aside from categorized library books, these bins will be used for class tools such as white board/expo markers and erasers, fidgets and sensory supports (including the requested playdoh), writing tools, and homework folders. Additionally, many of my students do not have a variety of books at home to practice reading with, so these the plastic book baggies will provide a sturdy bag for students to transport books to and from home each day to support their reading development.
