Ms. Nour from Chicago IL is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students the opportunity to go see the world renown Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater!

We are a Montessori classroom in the heart of Englewood on the south side of Chicago. The Montessori model combines three different grade levels in one classroom. Our students’ ages range from 6 to 9 years (first through third grade). This encourages leadership and collaborative learning. The combined levels also mean that our school operates on three-year cycles, therefore fostering strong bonds and relationships among students and teachers. Our classroom is like a family. We spend years learning and growing together, helping each other through challenges and celebrating our accomplishments. Our students love to sing and dance, write stories, read, and each year put on a theater performance. They study theater, visual arts, fencing and karate each week. Every day each child devises their own work plan, putting into practice the Montessori vision of self-directed, child-centered, hands-on, and empowered learning.
On March 6th the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will be giving a student matinee performance at the beautiful Chicago Auditorium Theatre. Tickets are $12 per person. Our school has a limited budget for field trips and is therefore only able to contribute $7 per ticket. There is a remaining $5 for each child's entrance fee that we are hoping to fund through this Donors Choose project.
For many of our students, this would be a first time experience for them to see a professional dance company at a venue like the historic Auditorium Theatre.
Alvin Ailey's contributions are especially important to our student body - our students would be able to see their own community represented and reflected on the stage.
Room 201 loves to perform and would relish the opportunity to see this internationally acclaimed dance company live.
Thank you in advance for your generous contributions. Field trip experiences like these enrich the educational experience of our children and uphold the Montessori vision of bringing students outside of the classroom and extend their learning beyond the school walls.
