Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend an Earth conscious school in a rural Texas town and we recycle as much as possible with our limited resources. Please help my students obtain a Kindle Fire to add to their resources for learning new ways to be Earth friendly!
Intelligent, curious, and driven- all of those terms describe my students.
With an 85% Hispanic population most of my students do not have a computer at home. Our school provides a safe environment where children are free learn and collaborate through the use of project-based learning assignments. The classroom is a safe haven where my active students are encouraged to dream outside the boundaries of a small rural town. Nothing is impossible when they dream, write, and collaborate ideas. My students thrive as enthusiastic learners because they are provided with the right education and memories that will last a lifetime. As an educator, my life-long goal is to provide an environment conducive to learning.
My Project
I want my students to read and learn about the need to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. A Kindle Fire would motivate them to read and do web-based research. With a Kindle Fire, all of my technology-starved students will gravitate towards it, simply because technology will motivate them to read! With this technology, my students can also access links that would teach them key concepts such as composting, natural resources, and alternate energy sources.
Having a Kindle Fire would put my students a step ahead and, in turn, will help preserve our planet for later generations. For their first Project Based Learning assignment for the upcoming school year, my students will do research on topics that contribute to environmental pollution. My dual-language first graders will search for ways our community can reduce trash and reuse recyclable resources and then get the entire school involved by sharing their research with the upper grade levels.
Our future environmentalists need your help!
Please help fund a Kindle Fire which will undoubtedly enhance my students' ability to learn about the world around them. I will ensure that my students are knowledgeable about the three R's: Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle. Furthermore, with this project in place, our whole school and community will benefit from it.
