This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
A Boogie Board VersaBoard Reusable Writing Tablet for each student will replace our outdated white boards and markers. It will allow me to quickly check students' responses for multiple lessons. Students will be more productive by saving learning time by not having to search for markers and erasers, as well as help save paper, money, and the environment.
The goal for the Reusable Writing Tablet is to inspire and encourage all students to participate in class by writing and or drawing their responses.
It will be a new fun way to use the "stop and jot" strategy where student record their answers to comprehension questions during whole and small group reading. Students will also use the board for quick responses to phonic and math lessons.
My students are special because they have worked so hard all year with their current white boards that have missing lines, cracks, and scratches, but they've managed to display their writing responses. All of these student have greatly increased their penmanship, phonic and reading abilities. More than 50% of my students are preforming above grade level. They deserve new writing tablets.
