Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am teaching Kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year. I have 20 five and six year old students. Our diverse school is a mix of Hispanic, African American, Caucasian, and Asian. Our students come from hard-working, struggling households, farming households, and middle class working families. Many of our students are homeless or are living in homeless housing. We are also a Title 1 school and 100% of the students qualify for free lunch. No matter their circumstances, my students come in with a smile on their face and ready to learn!

My Project

In our classroom, we use many tools to help learning. These white boards can be used in MANY academic areas in the class. They can be used in phonics lessons where the students can use magnet letters to spell words. They can also be used in writing lessons where they can sound out words and practice writing them. It is also a good way to practice math skills; the children can use magnetic manipulatives and markers to practice numbers, addition, and subtraction. Since they are dry erase boards, they can be used throughout the whole year and for years to come. I have used white boards in the past and the children love to be able to make work, show it off, erase it, and then make more!
