Wengert E.S. is a 48 year old school that has long served the community. We are a school with a large ELL population. In addition to this, most of our students come from low income families making this a Title I school. Our students work hard, are creative and intelligent. They are very appreciative when they are given equipment and materials that they can create with or learn from.
Though our students have many adversities to overcome, they have flourished and have shown their hard work and creativity.
Our school has been awarded star status due to the hard work our students have shown.
I have been out of the classroom for 15 years and am starting at square one again. The books were some resources I had in the past that the children loved. A favorite of the younger ones was Swimmy, by Leo Leoni. We sang a song to it and added simple orff accompaniment to it. It was a huge success. The standing desk will be a great place to put my computer and have the ability to move it around. The CD player will be nice since my room only has a TV/DVD player to play CD's on.
I always wanted to be two things, a mother and a teacher.
Now that my children are in high school I am ready to head back to the classroom and share my love of music with a new generation.
