Restoring Our Pride

Help me give my students new football uniforms to help restore their self-dignity and Raider Pride.

My Students

These highly energetic middle schoolers are eager to engage in learning and athletics after enduring the unforeseen virtual learning experience last school year. They are adapting to the middle structural and organizational models, while trying to overcome any learning loss that may have been experienced. Overall, they are visually inclined and learn best when physical objects are accessible or technology is infused. Also, many of our student-athletes depend on sports and extra-curricular activities to help restore their sense of well-being and fuel their academic success.

However, in the aftermath of virtual learning, we must alter our teaching practice and incorporate the innovations to technology to both accommodate their generational ability to manipulate technology and meet those visual learning tendencies.

I desire to expand my prior technological threshold in efforts to bring my students to a higher level of academic success.

My Project

As a 6th-grade math teacher and assistant football coach, I desire to help restore our school's "Raider Pride" spirit and create a positive and winning culture in our football program.

Although we coach the game of football, we first desire to coach the game of life by instilling essential skills into the lives of our student-athletes.

With the game being the vehicle to reach their inner strengths and abilities, we desire to build perseverance, boost confidence, exhibit self-control, and develop a determination to succeed.

Although we understand that an external element such as a new uniform doesn't have an impact on the student's athletic abilities or performance, the objective would be to give them a sense of pride, and boost morale win or lose. We believe that a change in attire will bring them a sense of feeling valued and honored for their efforts on and off the field (and their parents will appreciate them for our team pictures as well).
