My students need the foam dice for number sense activities. We will use the number line for addition and subtraction and we will use the graphing trays to graph objects.
There are many common-core math skills I must teach my students each year. I use counting objects to teach often abstract concepts in a hands-on way.
I teach a group of very active, energetic five and six year students.
Many of them have not previously been in a school setting. While most are very anxious to learn, they do not yet have the attention span necessary to do much seat work. Active learning opportunities are vital to teach these young minds.
My Project
I will use the 3-D shapes to teach concepts such as vertices(corners), angles, and faces. My students will use the foam dice to match numerals to their sets. The manipulatives will provide a tangible way to understand addition and subtraction. The graphing trays will allow my students to sort objects and then answer questions about most and least.
Your generous donation will help me provide a rich, hands-on learning environment for my students.
A hands-on approach for teaching young students builds their confidence and adds to their desire to learn.
