it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are learning to participate in restorative justice circles when problems arise in our classroom community. It helps them to be able to work out their problems in a positive way that promotes communication and problem-solving. We have been dealing with the problems of unkind actions and words towards each other, especially out on the yard at recess times. I would like to teach them how to communicate with each other using a guided conversation format while sitting in a circle. We will use these stools as a seating option for students who need to meet to discuss these issues in a designated location in the room.
These ergonomic stools will allow for comfortable seating options and a special option designated for our restorative justice and community-building group circles.
The stools allow the students to rock gently, which will be a great asset for students who might feel uneasy dealing with difficult conversation topics. Students will gather in a circle using these stools to speak out about the problems they are having.
