This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Using a classroom financial literacy system has dramatically changed my classroom behavior and the motivation of students. Students earn money based on their work ethics, behavior, and attitude. I love that students are really thinking about money, how to spend it, and even when to save it. This system even works for me as a math intervention teacher with many classes and students to oversee. I want to continue with the positive trend for our classroom financial literacy system this year.

Having a financial literacy system in place has taken the drama out of the everyday procedure, and placed real positive and effective consequences in place.

Because of this financial literacy system, students are motivated to make the most of the time that we have together. Students meet me quickly, quietly, and efficiently. The most exciting time for my math students is when they get to spend their Quinto cash! I love seeing their math minds at work, trying to figure out which items to purchase, which to put down, and which to save for!

Please help me replenish the goodies in my student store for me to add to my financial literacy store! Students love delicious snack such as crackers, cookies, and gummies. They also love sensory toys, lead pencils, and erasers! Help me keep my financial literacy system going strong!
