Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fourth grade students have been working hard this entire year. One thing that has kept them focused and motivated is our classroom economy. Students love earning class dollars and spending them in our class store. They earn dollars for following expectations, doing their homework, participating and for lots of other things. This also helps us as teachers look for and focus on the positives each day.
There is nothing more satisfying then seeing my students come to the store, discussing the items they are buying, or saving for, and hearing them figure out the math for their purchases that day.
As the year is going on, I am finding that our store needs to restock it's shelves. Students have been purchasing items throughout the year, which is a good thing. In order for the store to keep working, I need to fill it again with items that students would actually want to save and buy.
