The best way to keep students reading is to make sure we have the books they want to read.
My students love graphic novels--those shelves are the most popular section of our library!
In particular they love the "I Survived" series which features disasters throughout history. I keep those books in forward-facing bins so they are easy for students to find. Those bins are almost always empty--the books are constantly checked out, so we need more! My dragon fans also empty the "Wings of Fire" bins. As soon as those books come back, they're snatched up and checked out!
