This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Full speed ahead. We are midway through the year and our supplies are quickly dwindling away. Although we have made a lot of gains, there is still a wide diversity of learners with learning gaps. However, one fact remains they love food, snacks and treats. Within the last two years, there has been many up and downs which has lead to what is called learning. We are trying to play catch up. Unfortunately, many students do not have the love for learning, so by positive reinforcement I can encourage them and reward to learn. Having healthy snacks such as ones in this project will reinforce the idea of team building. Furthermore, I can reward the students who do the right thing and increase learning morale. A wide variety of snacks would reinforce that each student is unique and special as well as adhere to dietary restrictions. We can can use a replacement filter for our air purifier, a laminator, and ink for our printer.
My Project
Having differentiated rewards is just as important as differentiated learning. Many middle schoolers love a mid-day snack as a reward. Being able to provide students with a variety of treats as a token of appreciation for doing their best is essential to learning. These snacks are essential for many of my students who do not eat lunch and need snacks before and after team building. We would be so grateful for the opportunity to provide them a choice of healthy and nutritious snacks such as chips, fruit snacks, and treats.
Also, having the luxury of a laminator in the classroom would allow for students creations to come to life.
For example, if a students is having difficulty remembering academic terms as he or she is reading. They can create his or her own bookmark. Laminating the bookmark will allow it to be more durable, useful and reusable. Having a handheld laminator does not require a student to lose instruction by leaving the classroom or the teacher having to rush quickly to laminate.
Lastly, clean air and clean room. As part of our daily routine we sanitize desks prior to leaving for the space to be clean and refreshed for the next class. Having a replacement filter will allow us to continue to use our Homedics Total Clean 5 in 1 air purifier. Clorox wipes will permit us to wipe down shared surfaces like doorknobs and devices.
