My Project
I teach 9th–12th grade students in Johns Island, South Carolina. My students are passionate, thoughtful, and full of stories of their own. Many speak both English and Spanish, and some are still building their reading confidence. Whether they’re reluctant readers or avid book lovers, I want every student to feel seen, challenged, and inspired through the books they find on our classroom shelves.
Help me restock and refresh our classroom library with high-interest, diverse books to spark a love of reading in every student.
Right now, our classroom library leans heavily toward fantasy, which many of my students enjoy. But I’ve seen growing interest in realistic fiction, graphic novels, and suspenseful or horror-themed stories—especially among students who haven't yet found "their book."
This project will help me restock our shelves with updated, high-interest books, including bilingual and graphic novel options, stories rooted in reality, and horror/suspense titles that are thrilling but still appropriate for teens. These books will better reflect my students’ identities, cultures, and experiences while also introducing them to new perspectives and genres.
By supporting this project, you're helping create a vibrant, inclusive, and modern library that welcomes readers of all levels. Your donation will help reignite the joy of reading for students who need it most.
