Restock and Garden Expansion

Help me give my students the materials we need to expand our gardening area the products that we need to restock our coffee shop. We are looking to expand our garden and deliver beverages during summer program.

My Project

As a way to bring new and exciting social opportunities and life skills into our classroom, In November we introduced "Brew for the Crew." A coffee club that will makes and delivers various hot, and cold beverages to teachers and staff. We will begin this project by offering brew one time per week based on orders. We will plan to increase the offerings based on interest.

Students take and sort orders, collect and count money, give change, make coffee according to individual orders then deliver the coffee around the building.

Students have not only gain valuable skills working within this small business model but have learned to navigate the building with increasing independence and developed new relationships with staff by using pre taught social skills and verbal exchange opportunities when engaging with customers.

In the early spring we began our gardening adventure by starting seeds and caring for them. They are just about ready to move to our raised beds. We have so many plants and are in need of a few more raised beds to give our plants a place to spread out and finish their growing season. Students will use the fruits and vegetables in various cooking activities and will bring home the excess harvest as the summer months progress.
