This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our Title I school, many of our students face daily challenges both inside and outside the classroom. To help them succeed academically and emotionally, I am creating a Calm Corner-a safe, welcoming space where students can go to rest, reflect and recharge. This corner will be a dedicated area for students to take mindful breaks, practice self-regulation, or simply rest after completing their work. By offering tools like comfortable seating and calming visuals this space will empower students to better manage their emotions and return to learning with a clear mind.

My students are bright, resilient and full of potential.

Many come from under-resourced communities and carry emotional burdens that no child should have to bear. Despite these challenges, they show up every day ready to learn and grow. The Calm Corner will give them the support they need to thrive-not just academically, but personally. With your help, this space will remind every student that their well-being matters and that they deserve a peaceful place to feel seen, safe, and supported.
