My Project
Shoulder pads are an essential must-have that every string player carries in their instrument case. Young or old, novice or expert, there is no such thing as a string player who does not use a shoulder rest. Shoulder pads help aid a string player's posture while playing their instrument. What they do is help remove the strain between the shoulder and the neck. Because violin and violas are not to be held at a "natural" human posture, using shoulder rests assists players in holding their instruments properly. Also, without the help of shoulder pads, players can develop problems with their skeletal-muscular system over time which can lead to detrimental health issues.
With all the hard work that students put into every performance and every rehearsal, they should not be limited to these types of resources.
Also, shoulder pads are not like strings where they need to be routinely replaced to help maintain an instrument, shoulder pads have a longevity that does not wear out over constant use but a lifespan that will remain lengthy over good care.
