My students need pencils and foam balls because they are often without pencils and need this valuable tool to be successful in the response to intervention class period.
It is getting ever increasingly difficult to motivate students to do well and to do their job in the classroom with so many outside influences going on around them today. One way to increase motivation in through reward time for successful homework and classroom completion.
I teach 115 middle school students.
One way that our team has found effective for reaching students is through reward periods that incorporate tag-ball and other fun sport games. Students have worked hard to earn these. If we had our own set of safe foam balls, we would be able to offer this more frequently. Providing pencils would allow several of our students supplies they need on a daily basis. Team 7B is requesting pencils and safe foam sports balls. We feel that physical activity is a much healthier alternative to our students than offering a movie reward.
My Project
Think back to when you were in school... I do and the best memories I hold are when my teachers actually competed against the class in basketball, tag-ball and kickball. I want our students to have these memories and to get some exercise in the process. What better way to motivate the ones that are doing what is expected in the classroom.
My students need pencils and safe foam recreational balls to supplement our efforts during response to intervention time that aims at making all students successful in the classroom.
