Persistent. Hardworking. Spirited. Innovative. These words describe the students at my school. As 5th grade students, they are excited to leave their mark on the world. No matter what, I believe they all deserve a top-notch education. Furthermore, I believe technology access enhances learning experiences. Technology opens up endless opportunities for the outside world to enter inside the walls of my classroom.
I want to foster a passion for reading and a classroom community where we can discuss elements of literature.
Each year, I welcome the relationships we create in our room that last well beyond the year they are with me. They make me a better teacher with their questions, interest, and passion.
My Project
I am in need of resources and materials that will not only allow me to reinforce and integrate Reading and Writing standards in my 5th grade classroom, but also foster a learning space for engagement.
My students deserve a classroom environment that provides them with opportunities that help them make connections, reinforce content, and foster a level of mastery and confidence.
The resources I am requesting include novel study packets that will go along with the three Social Studies integrated novels that we will read this year. This will allow me to embed Reading and Writing along with the Social Studies standards in my lessons.
I am also requesting classroom seating that will create a cozy learning space for collaborative reading and writing activities. I picture my students sitting in comfortable spaces (wobble cushions and chair cushions) around my room where they can work and learn in a space that works for them! Students are more likely to be engaged when they are provided exciting activities in a flexible seating environment.
