My Project

As a special education teacher, I have the opportunity to work with a variety of students who have a spectrum of different needs and learning styles. At the end of every school year, my caseload changes so the materials that I used in the previous year may not necessarily support the needs of the new students that I'm getting in the next school year. With that being said, this project is composed of all the materials that I could think of that I may still be missing as I prep for the upcoming year.

A challenge of being a learning support teacher is continually brainstorming different techniques and strategies by thinking outside of the box.

Things that some students may catch onto quickly, might need to be directly taught in a structured setting. Some of these materials (books, games, star student, crayons) will allow me to supplement social skills instruction in a fun way. These skills can be daunting for some students so having a fun aspect will help to continually support growth and the desire to learn.

Aside from student materials, a huge part of my job is meeting with parents/guardians to outline their child's services. Because these meetings are confidential, all drafted documents must be shredded. The shredder included in this project will allow me to shred confidential documents throughout these meetings.

My goal is to always provide my students and their families with comfort in knowing that their child is learning is a safe and inclusive environment. Thank you for considering supporting this goal with me!
