Resources Needed for Learners With Autism to Self-regulate

Help me give my students the tools and resources to self-regulate when feeling overwhelmed and escalated.

My Project

My learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder often feel overwhelmed and are learning to regulate and communicate their emotions in appropriate ways.

The sensory toys and bouncing board will provide them the sensory input they require to calm their body.

Using these items will teach them replacement behaviors that will keep themselves and others safe and prevents/ minimizes disruptive behaviors.

The clear pocket charts will be used for individual and whole class visual schedules to inform my learners of the day's activities and expectations as well as prepare them for any upcoming changes to the usual routine.

A binding machine and binding combs are needed to make our own low budget Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) books, since binders used for PECS are costly and PECS books are needed for many of my students. PECS books are needed for my non-verbal students and students with limited verbal language to be able to effectively communicate their needs and wants and their current emotions to others.
