Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the most hard-working kids and deserve the best classroom experience possible.
Being at a Title I campus, many of my students come to me with very little of their basic needs met and are forced to grow up a little sooner than I would like.
The educators at my campus do a fantastic job of supporting these students inside of the classroom and outside of the classroom. We really get to know our students and how they learn best. My classroom is set up with many alternative seating options. In addition, I also allow students the choice of working with a small group, a partner, or independently, on many of the tasks in my classroom. When new concepts are introduced, the majority of my students choose the option to work with a group or with a partner, especially since I have such a high English Language Learner (ELL) population.
My Project
At the beginning of this year I was in a self contained classroom. I purchased enough supplies for a certain amount of students and a few additional in the event that I gained a few more during the year.
However, at the end of October I became departmentalized and my students doubled.
For a few of my resources/materials I was able to easily split or share among my two classes. However, a few of my materials are not easily split.
I would like to request funds to add a few more subscriptions to my scholastic account and a few more storage bins so that students have space to organize their materials. Lastly, I would like to request funds for a pencil sharpener.
These materials will make a huge difference within my classroom!
