This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a 8th grade science teacher in a high needs area, low socio-economic status, with an extremely diverse area with multiple languages present.
As teachers with intense science backgrounds, we are hoping to develop curriculum and experiments to assist our students in taking on the role of scientists using models and accurate measuring equipment.
The students will be utilizing the digital scales to take accurate measurements during labs and discuss how precise measurements in science are necessary. This will assist them to better understand and utilize equipment as scientists use.
You will make it possible for students in an urban school district to experience the use of scientific technology in activities such as physics, chemistry, and genetics they may not other wise be exposed to without access to such equipment.
