Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have ten students from first to fifth grade with special needs in a self-contained class. A self-contained classroom is composed of students with varied multiple disabilities. Our school is a Title I school in West Baltimore with about 95% of students requiring the free and reduced price meals program (FARMS) and that means they do lack the materials and resources they need to truly thrive in the classroom. During this pandemic, my students and their families are struggling because most of them lost their jobs and are trying their best to feed their children and at the same time to support their studies. As their teacher, I am also trying my very best to support them in terms of helping with academic needs while talking things out and encouraging them to see the brighter aspect. These passionate, excitable students deserve a high-quality education. Please help us provide this for them.

My Project

During this time, I teach my students virtually by having a live session through Zoom and recorded lessons through Youtube for them to see and learn. As a teacher, it is very challenging to create a plan that will motivate my students and be engaged during our live sessions. I found a lot of resources in Teachers Pay Teachers that will give me a lot of benefits to teach my students using a variety of pre-made lessons and activities from Teachers Pay Teachers that will keep them busy and engage. I love to see my students learning a lot using different resources that will also help them to be successful.
