My Students
My students are an amazing, diverse group of kids! Several students come from a variety of different socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. These 71 students are full of energy and come to school excited to learn and participate in engaging activities.
The possibilities are endless when students have access to quality books and materials.
These students are our future and I want to do all I can to help them be successful in life. I would be thrilled, and so would they, to have any available help in funding this project.
My Project
The materials I am asking for will benefit my students for the years and months to come. We use whiteboard and expo markers on a daily basis. Students are continuously needing to have their makers replaced due to wear and tear. It can get quite expensive to provide students with daily needed supplies.
I challenge each student to read twenty books throughout the school year from different genres.
I call it the Terrific Twenty Book Challenge. I give students this challenge in order to expose them to a variety of reading material in hopes of developing their love of reading. If anything else, I do this challenge to introduce them to a category of book they might not otherwise read. Once they have completed a book, they submit a response that includes basic information...such as characters, genre, main events, their opinion of the book, etc. In order to display the books I have available for students to choose from, I need to add additional bookshelves to my classroom.
