This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school, teachers, and faculty face many challenges, and we persevere. We work with very limited resources, and that includes technology and textbooks.
I teach in a rural Mississippi Delta school, and we are in a very high poverty area.
With so many distractions, I have to use everything I can think of to keep my students focused and motivated on learning. This project will give my students more access to technology in the classroom. Students will be able to make and show presentations in the classroom, and a notebook will give us the mobility to present where everyone will be able to view it. We expect all of our students to be able to go to some form of higher education, and we need resources to help us get there.
My Project
I am requesting a notebook computer to hook to my projector that I received through Donor's Choose. I hook a desktop computer to our projector and it doesn't give us the mobility for everyone to see. It would also give us the ability to play DVDs, which we can use along with literature. We have very limited access to media, teachers use personal equipment to show videos.
This project is so important to my students, because it will allow them more access to technology in the classroom.
I hope to eventually have the most technologically advanced classroom in our school.
