Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to school each and every day eager to learn. They are filled with questions and they absolutely love to be active/hands-on while in the classroom environment as well as with each other. I service a low-income community meaning their resources are very limited, yet they never seem to notice. As their teacher, I would like to build an inviting space for them to continuously learn and grow. I would like to have resources available that meet the needs of my students.
My Project
It is important to meet the students where they are and provide them with as much as you possibly can in order to help them be successful. The materials listed will give all of my students the ability to use resources they need in order to be hands-on within the classroom and grow. In math, the range of materials, such as the attribute blocks, will give the students variety within their learning experience. The whiteboards and Expo markers are so that the students have continued practice with literacy/writing throughout the day to grasp the concept of writing as well as vocabulary. Also with the magnetic sentence strips and alphabet blocks, the students can practice literacy and build alphabetic principles. Kindergarten students struggle with having to stay still and remain seated in areas for more than five minutes. Therefore I am requesting the Kids Core Wobble chairs as flexible seating within my class. This will hopefully invite the idea of staying in an area with some movement that doesn't take away from completing a task.
