This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students in my classes are a part of a small learning community on campus. They belong to the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math ( STEAM ) magnet school. Students of all ethnic backgrounds makeup this particular class, including Hispanic, Asian, Caucasian, and African American. The school is also a Title I school, and 70% of the students receive free or reduced price meals.

My goal is to have my students become more confident in their daily lives and to find success at something they love to do.

My students are very driven and motivated to achieve. One of the many aspects that I love about my students is the fact that they are so helpful. They are supportive of each other and are willing to help one another if a student is struggling. They love being praised and love learning science.

My Project

Have you ever wondered how records can produce music or how a guitar can produce such wonderful sound? Learning about sound can be both fun and educational. It's amazing to see students have an ah-ha moment and I know that these materials will allow them to fully experience sound.

Resonating sounds of music boxes and tuning fork will help my students really experience waves.

The slinkies will help them see how waves can travel. This NGSS unit will be hands on and minds on. Eventually at the end of the unit I would like my students to create actual instruments!
