Resiliently Reading: Refugee

Help me give my students the gift of learning valuable world lessons within literature. This story follows three kids, the same age as our students, in their families' journies of survival as they travel as refugees to safety.

My Project

These books will support our sixth-grade students at our elementary school to explore the different paradigms of three kids, the same age as our sixth graders, who are fleeing for their safety and their lives. "Refugee" divulges the dangers and traumas that our characters experience on their journeys seeking refuge from different parts of the world, during different time periods. The diversity within this text will shed light on the various issues that have occurred within our world's history connecting to multiple standards across multiple content areas. This book will provide us with a holistic learning experience sure to engage our students in the mastery of multiple standards while additionally, empathizing with various hardships explained in Gratz's riveting historical fiction novel.

Ms. Cope will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by September 2.
