This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Social Emotional Learning is an important part of middle school! I will be teaching a 9-week Resilience course in 8 classrooms this semester. 6th and 7th graders will learn about emotional regulation, healthy communication, problem-solving, goal setting, stress management, and healthy coping skills.

Life is challenging and teaching kids healthy ways to cope with challenges primes them for future success.

Each lesson in this course has fun activities and lots of opportunities for student engagement. I would like to reward and encourage student participation by having goodies to raffle off at the end of each lesson. This adds an extra element of excitement to the overall course and the students really look forward to it.
