My students need these bean bags and books for research, especially during Black History Month.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Dandoy's classroom raised $198

My Students
I am a second grade teacher! I have a wonderful group of students! They are constantly impressing me with their hard working attitude, amazing work ethic, and overall positive outlook on life. I am so proud to be their teacher. They deserve the best education possible.
I teach at a rural, Title I school, serving approximately 300 students.
Every child receives free breakfast and lunch. We are located near a large military base and as a result, serve children of active duty and retired military. Our students are bright and eager to learn new things. They are hard workers and strive to make their world a better place.
My Project
This project consists of mostly books to be used throughout the school year. Most of the books will be used during the month of February, to celebrate Black History Month. The books will serve as excellent resources for many projects and lessons. I have selected a wide variety of biographies on famous Americans past and present. Some of biographies included in this project cover big names such as: Mae Jemison, Roberto Clemente, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, and many others. I want to encourage my students to love both reading, and history! These books will certainly excite them to want to learn more about many famous Americans. I can easily see myself using these books for my own lessons as well, whether they be for a whole group lesson, or small. I am also requesting Science vocabulary readers, to enhance both my student's vocabulary, and Science knowledge. These will be used in lessons, and will be available for the student's independent use.
These books will be wonderful resources in the classroom for research purposes.
In addition to the books, I am also requesting two character stuffed animals from the book, "The Gruffalo". These will be used as our "class pets", and the students will have the option to take them home over the weekends, with a notebook, and a copy of the book. I strongly feel that this will encourage my students to want to read, and write more, as they tell about their time with the characters. Thank you for your support!
