I have a group of diverse learners (special education) students and strategic general education students. The students are in grade 8. Our school is an elementary school which services students from grades Prek to 8th. My students are in both our inclusion model and resource model.
Our Special Education program and General Education program is comprised of 50 amazing students (12 of which are middle schoolers), many of whom come from low income households and receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Some have severe learning disabilities, behavioral disorders and mild cognitive delays. They are a great group of kids!
My Project
The students will use the laptops to be able to research the nutritional value to the things in which they eat. Students will be able to develop nutritional plans and also research the nutritional values of the fast food restaurants within our community to be how it effects there lifestyles of eating.
The students will begin to also research the nutritional value of the fruits and vegetables that are sold within the local grocery stores to be able to compare it with that of the fast food restaurants through research on the laptops with in the classroom.
Having this direct arch access within the classroom will be extremely beneficial to the students in changing their eating habits.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
