My Students

My students reflect the cultural richness of New York City - and they speak 34 different languages among them!

Our school is an academically rigorous, tuition-free high school and college associate's degree program.

Many of my students are the first in their families to attend college. They are very eager for the opportunity to earn two years of free college tuition at the time of their high school graduation.

It is incredibly rewarding to work with such curious, eager and motivated students.

My Project

My students are, simply, research superheroes. In their great books course, College Seminar, they are researching Freud, Marx, Nietzsche, Dante and Woolf. They come into the library with elaborate research projects in mind. One student is writing about Freud and video games. Another writes about Marx and the college loan debt crisis. Students' papers bring critical theory and history into conversation with contemporary issues, many of which are deeply personal and meaningful to students. The Seminar project is the capstone of the college program at our school, the culminating experience for students. Students are also working intently on history research, especially for the Cold War class. And history section needs a major boost.

Next year, I want the library to be better stocked and ready for students.

Students are writing serious academic papers and pushing their limits to create fantastic scholarly work. Let's support these research superheroes with a current, relevant library and a wide variety of informational texts that open students' eyes to the complexity of the world.
