The four-semester interdisciplinary Seminar Sequence exposes students to seminal texts from antiquity to modernity, which students engage through critical reading and interpretation.\" (from our website, bhsec.bard.edu) Student read all the same texts and enter into deep discussion after closely reading the text to draw their own conclusions. \r\n\r\nThis grant offered our students the opportunity to own their own books to take notes in them and keep for the remainder of the studies and life. Many of our students in the past have been deeply moved by their time in Seminar and lamented that they could not keep their books with the sticky notes stuck in them. \r\n\r\nYour generosity has meant that these students can keep their cherished books and use them to begin to build their personal libraries, which we hope will carry them far into adulthood.","fullyFundedDate":1746787369445,"projectUrl":"project/epic-and-adolescence-at-the-bhs/9234354/","projectTitle":"Epic and Adolescence at the BHS","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp467475_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y540&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1679946549635","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bhsecqlib"},{"teacherId":467475,"projectId":9339911,"letterContent":"I requested to be able to attend a beginners course in XML training because, while I do know some basic XML and used it in my own research, I needed to understand more in order to teach my students. \r\n\r\nI am now working with senior students who are interested in manuscript transcription. Thanks to your support, we were able to create thoughtful grief support packages for students navigating the loss of a loved one or pet and have already handed out a few packages. Each package includes a guided grief journal, a soft plush for comfort, and a photo frame to honor the memory of someone special — simple, tangible reminders that healing takes time and no one has to face loss alone.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the materials, I've seen the immediate impact these packages have made. When a student recently received a package after losing a grandparent, they smiled when choosing a stuffed animal. When a student lost their mom a year ago and received the packet, they carefully reviewed the material and expressed genuine gratitude. These small moments of care matter — they remind our students that even in grief, they are seen, supported, and valued.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has not only provided comfort but has also strengthened our school's capacity to respond compassionately in times of need.
