Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are ambitious high-school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are currently working on undergraduate college research projects. During the course, students are required to conduct and present research findings to their peers and teachers. They are encouraged to research topics that are authentically interesting, and many actually discover their passions for future careers or college endeavors.
Many of my students are using outdated, inadequate, or borrowed technology which is limiting their final products, and therefore, their potential.
Technology from this project will help my students by providing them with relevant tools that they can use in school and prepare them for college and careers. These tools include iPads, keyboards, Apple pencils, and more. In fact, students have shared the work they produce in my class alongside college and scholarship applications. Students who participate and successfully complete this program can earn up to six college credits.
But they need access to relevant technology to be inspired, reach their potential, and create projects that matter to them. The computer literacy, college- and career-readiness, and communication skills they can acquire will remain with them long after they have graduated.
