This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Black History Month is celebrated at our school, and my 4th graders love doing research and art projects during this time of year. This year they will be writing biographies on important African Americans from the present and the past. They will be researching with partners, putting together a project, and creating a visual to go with their project. To do this, we need sketchbooks! Sketchbooks will enable them to practice drawing skills and create an image that represents the person they are studying. To do this research, I am also asking for a mouse to use while they use the classroom computer, and books that they can use as references. Having a reliable mouse makes working on the computer easier and faster. Being able to refer to books such as, "Kobe Bryant: A Kid's Book About Learning From Your Losses" and "My Little Golden Book About Martin Luther King Jr." will give them ideas and text evidence as they write their essays. Lastly, they need tape to be able to build their Black History Month biography projects.
