My students need pencils for literacy activities that take place in the classroom.

My Students

I serve first-grade students who live in the heart of the Appalachian mountains of Eastern Kentucky. There is an equal mix of girls and boys. They are fun-loving, bright, energetic, and extremely eager learners. They each absorb information like sponges. They love learning.

They are at a very critical time in their life—the beginning stage of reading and writing.

Their focus should be on learning, rather than what they don't have or what they need to be successful in school.

My Project

The materials I am requesting are Dixon Ticonderoga pencils for the classroom. Students have organizers at their tables and these organizers need to stay stocked with pencils. The pencils are used for everything LITERACY! This includes grammar and writing activities, word work, comprehension, and fluency activities. Students will be able to take a story they have in their pocket and put it on paper with these pencils.
