Help me give my students rich and diverse read aloud texts to help see themselves, and those in their community, represented in texts.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We live in a melting pot of identity, race, and culture. Reading alouds build a sense of community and unity. They give students a chance to connect, react, process, and discuss topics new and familiar. Rich read alouds bring forth some of the most important learning in classroom through open conversations.
Seeing yourself, or those in your community, represented in texts read aloud is like having a mirror or a window.
It allows you to explore your own identity and/or gives students a chance to discuss. My hope with this project is that students will get a chance to learn more about Asian American and Pacific Islanders. To recognize their contributions and influence in our city and broader world.
