This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My resource classroom consists of students who are determined to learn and strive for success. They are interested in "typical" teenage interests such as Fortnite, Basketball, Instagram, Tik-Tok, and Takis. Oh, and for some reason, Peppa Pig.

These students represent different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.

As a class, the students face challenges accessing the grade-level curriculum without sufficient supports and resources. These students require differentiated instruction and always put forth their best effort! Whether it's games like Kahoot or our Friday Community Circles, these students are present and deserve the opportunity to be successful.

My Project

I have a growing classroom library that is always in need of more titles! 50% of the reading students do in my classes is centered around independent and choice reading. The goal is that students will start to read more, which will translate and make them better readers and writers!

Having a wide range of diverse, culturally responsive, and engaging books will help students not only connect to their reading but enjoy it more!

These titles will help bring my class library to the next level and give students more books to choose from throughout the year. Evidence shows that students read more when they have access to more books in their classes, and this project will help bring this research to life.
