Help me give my students books that illustrate the representation matters such as The Day You Begin and The Year We Learned to Fly.

My Project
When it comes to literacy, it is important that the characters are diverse because children of our world are diverse. I work in a military populated town, which means we are a very diverse town. However, many books in the library simply have Caucasian characters. This is not okay. Classroom libraries should have books representing a wide variety of diverse human beings. Children deserve to see characters that look like themselves in books. Caucasian children also can benefit from seeing books with more diverse characters.
I would like help diversify each classroom's classroom library by providing each teacher with one book that has diverse characters.
This will expose over 200 students a year to books with diverse characters. For a child to see a character that looks like them might make all the difference for the child feeling represented and valued. It might even help foster a love of reading.
